Manchester, UK. EDM, a leading global provider of training simulators to the civil aviation and defence sectors, recently organised a paper plane throwing competition to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
During September, staff were invited to design and throw a paper plane within a designated area of the company’s manufacturing facility in Newton Heath, East Manchester. Thirty of the company’s workforce took part with Team Leader, Paul Cadogan, declared the winner with a throw of 18.7 metres.
The competition was the idea of EDM Supervisor, Roger Legge: “We’re always thinking of fun ways to raise money for Macmillan,” said Roger. “With so many experienced engineers and designers in our team focused on building high end training simulators for the aviation market, we felt this would be a popular fundraising activity. We were delighted with the response and very happy to be able to raise some cash for this brilliant charity.”
“Thanks to EDM for putting on this unique fundraiser,” said Becky Bainton, Macmillan Fundraising Manager. “What an excellent idea which really links the business with fundraising.”
