EDM Ltd has completed work on the refurbishment and upgrade on a series of existing training equipment for Jet2.com.

EDM has performed a conversion of a B757 L1 entry door that was donated using one of Jet2’s life-expired aircraft. The equipment now features a fully functional training door which included the installation of new bulkheads and framework, flight attendant seats and flooring; with a 3D mock-up of the forward attendant panel (FAP). The trainer has also been fitted with a new control system, power supply and emergency stop system.

Other work included the installation of a new control system and power supply into Jet2’s existing B737 Cabin Emergency Evacuation Trainer (CEET). EDM has manufactured and installed a simulated infra-red fire scenario system within the CEET, along with a fixed Instructor Operating Station. The operational fire scenarios are located in the overhead locker, oven, toilet and flight deck whilst operational heat effects are positioned in the overhead locker and toilet door.

EDM has also performed an upgrade on the B737-800 over wing exit by installing a new steel box section platform with levelling feet, new flooring, and Jet2 livery to the exterior.

All programme of works were implemented and tested in accordance with Boeing aircraft recommended forces and delivery took place at the low-cost carrier’s training centre at Leeds Bradford Airport last month.

Mick Bonney, EDM’s Director – Sales and Business Development said:

“EDM has applied its world-class engineering and manufacturing expertise to extend the life of Jet2’s existing cabin crew training devices and ensure that they can continue to be valuable training assets and stand up to the rigorous demands of the cabin crew training environment.”

Delivery took place at the low-cost carrier’s training centre at Leeds Bradford Airport.

Mick Bonney adds:

“EDM’s broad capability and expertise means that we provide our airline customers with options – from designing and manufacturing new cabin crew training devices to helping our customers identify how they can future-proof existing equipment through our bespoke modification and upgrade service.”
