Cabin Service Trainers

The EDM cabin service trainer can be a full or partial fuselage mock up of any aircraft. They are equipped with cabin zones, lavatories and galleys to recreate the cabin environment improving the realism of practical training.

The high quality simulated cabin interior can be fitted with the choice of economy, business and first class seating as well as cabin attendant seats and associated attendant control panels.

The cabin service trainer enables cabin crew to understand the passenger cabin layout and cabin systems, with familiarisation of cabin lighting, call lights, communications system and handset operation.

It is a highly realistic environment to implement guidelines for cabin management and teach proficiency in the use, operation and location of equipment and procedures.

Replica operational galleys give cabin crew an understanding of what it is like to work within the constraints of an aircraft environment. It provides a platform for training on food safety hygiene and preparation, presentation and service of modern in-flight service. The hands-on approach can cover the operation of actual equipment such as ovens, boilers and carts that can be integrated into the trainer.

The dedicated cabin service trainer supplied to Etihad Airways and installed in Abu Dhabi fully replicates the functionality of an Airbus A320, for in-flight service training and aircraft familiarisation.

EDM provide Cabin Service Trainers (CST) for the whole family of Airbus aircraft.

The A340-600 dedicated cabin service trainer supplied to Virgin Atlantic comprises of an A340 cabin fuselage structure and a representative cabin interior.

It accommodates premium class seating area for 14 passengers and an economy class seating area for 24 passengers. It is accessed by doors in the forward and rear bulkhead and simulated Airbus A340 door at L2 and L4. The dummy doors at R2 and R4 have representative door bustles and fixed handles.

EDM provide Cabin Service Trainers (CST) for the full fleet of Boeing aircraft. Supplying two B787 trainers to Continental Airlines for practical Cabin Crew training. Each trainer comprised of a B787 section of cabin fuselage and a cabin interior representative of the new features incorporated into the Boeing ‘dreamliner’.

The trainers accommodate both premium and economy class seating area and are accessed by the Flight Deck door or to the rear of the training device. L1 is a fully operational door whilst L3 is a non functional replica door.

The key features of this cabin service trainer are:

• Double Cabin Attendant seats with harnesses including operational Attendant Switch Panels (ASP)
• A forward attendant panel (FAP) containing indications and controls for various systems such as cabin lighting and cabin status. The panels provided in the trainer are representative of the real aircraft panels and provide a limited number of functional controls.
• Operational cabin lighting including entry, galley and B787 distinctive scene lighting
• Operational overhead stowage’s
• Forward galley/service area and cart stowage

The Net jets, GII Gulfstream trainer refurbished by EDM is an example of a trainer ideal for conducting cabin service related training.

The interior cabin, galley and lavatory were refitted to faithfully represent the features of the Gulfstream aircraft used in Net jets service.

The trainer comprises of:

• Five leather finished passenger seats

The C919 flagship project is an example of the high fidelity to which a cabin area can be replicated for Cabin Service Training. The forward fuselage and cockpit were developed and designed using COMAC supplied 3D digital design data and drawings.

The simulated cabin interior is fitted with economy and business class seating, in-flight entertainment system and cabin attendant seats with associated attendant control panels, it also has cabin lighting, mood lighting, emergency lighting, call lights, communications, PA system, handsets and dummy lavatory cubicle.

The business class section is fitted with fully functional business class seats with an in flight entertainment display. The economy class section is fitted with economy class seats with operational reading lights. The first two rows of economy seats are fitted with functional IFE touch screens that screen movies, play music and display information.

An air-conditioning system is fitted to control the temperature within the cabin and cockpit.

The cockpit is designed to replicate the COMAC C919 and is installed with functional pilot’s / co- pilot’s seats, cockpit lighting and representations of all flying controls and instruments. The cockpit seats are functional seats and can be lowered/raised moved forward/back using the control levers fitted to the side of the seat.

The forward galley area houses a functional coffee maker and also incorporates storage drawers and lockers, sink, tap, ice drawer and dummy circuit breakers.
