Both Shandong Airlines and Shenzhen Airlines have commissioned EDM to supply the SEPTRE system and additionally Shenzhen Airlines has a requirement for two Airbus A320 doors which are to be integrated into an existing CEET fuselage.

Mick Bonney, EDM’s Director of Sales and Business Development said:

“EDM is proud to enhance our Chinese customer base and welcome new co-operations with China Eastern, Shandong Airlines and Shenzhen Airlines. EDM has a very strong presence in China and through our continued collaboration with Xi’an Feibao, our Chinese partner company, we look forward to growing our Chinese business further.”

SEPTRE is EDM’s latest innovation which provides unparalleled levels of realism for training cabin crew. Covering all phases of flight, SEPTRE combines synchronised motion, sound and visuals as they would be experienced in real life situations on-board the aircraft.

The system uses a series of image generators at each window to provide a variety of seamless real-time scenes from land and ocean, to sky scenes and special effects. Other benefits include a modular design which enables SEPTRE to be built into existing or new; and fixed or motion-based cabin emergency evacuation trainers. In addition, SEPTRE has an off-line lesson planning application, developed using Open Source software, and provides the ability to update and modify airline-specific cabin announcements. SEPTRE is supplied with pre-programmed scenarios including aborted take-off, ditching flight, decompression, left main gear collapse and engine fire.

SEPTRE has been designed and developed for several airlines and is currently installed with other Chinese airlines including Air China, Hainan Airlines, Xiamen Air and Sichuan Airlines.

Mick Bonney adds:

“SEPTRE’s ability to provide a truly realistic on-board experience sets it apart from any other training device and it sets a new industry standard. We have launched SEPTRE with several Chinese airlines and the feedback has been incredibly positive. As such, we have experienced even more demand from other Chinese airlines for this most innovative and world-class training solution.”
