Manchester, UK. EDM, a leading global provider of training simulators to the civil aviation and defence sectors, announced today that it has won the MEN Business of the Year Award 2015 in the £10m to £25m turnover category.
The Newton Heath based company beat Zen Office, Metronet and Designer Habitat to the prestigious award at an evening ceremony held at The Midland Hotel in Manchester on Thursday, 12th November. Organised annually by the Manchester Evening News, the MEN Awards recognise the achievements of businesses in the North West of England that have demonstrated outstanding growth as well as positive contributions to their local community.
Having trebled its turnover over the past 5 years, cemented its position as the world’s leading manufacturer of crew training simulators and with plans to significantly expand its workforce in 2016, EDM was again successful at the Awards having won the £5m to £10m turnover category in 2009.
This year EDM has won major new contracts with leading airlines including Cathay Pacific, All Nippon Airways and American Airlines, supplied equipment to Singapore Airlines, Turkish Airlines and Ethiopian Airlines and continued delivering on major defence contracts for clients such as Lockheed Martin and BAE Systems. The company is planning to build a new 40,000 square foot manufacturing facility and is in the process of recruiting additional staff to cope with increasing global demand for its products.
“It’s a real privilege to win the MEN Business of the Year Award for a second time,” said Tony Bermingham, Managing Director of EDM. “We’ve worked tirelessly to grow our business internationally and are delighted that EDM’s success has been recognised by our peers in the local business community.”
